IMG_20140723_112229

Using only a few natural ingredients it is very easy to create a homemade hand sanitizer that works just a well as the store bought but without all of the nasty chemcials that have been a huge concern lately. Triclosan is used in many products as a way to kill fungas, bacteria and viruses, but did you know what it is also an endocrine disruptor and and is a huge contributor in allergies such as contact dermatitis.  It is also the chemical that is currently being blamed for the strains of resistant bacteria. This recipe uses essential oils to kill the germs, so it works great and smells great too!

Ingredients

8 oz Aloe Vera Gel (important that it is just natural aloe with out parabens, the only two brands I could find were Lily of the Desert and Aubrey)

1 tablespoon Witch Hazel

1/4 teaspoon pure Vitamin E oil ( important as this ingredient makes the Aloe Vera shelf stable.)

30 drops 100% Tea Tree Essential Oil

10 drops Clove Essential Oil

Directions

Combine all of the ingredients in a sterilized mason jar or reuse a well washed old bottle to keep in your purse or at work. This receipe is shelf stable because of the vitamin E oil. A little goes a long way!

Feel free to add some lavender or cinnamon oil along to change everything up a bit.
